Rebecca Simmonds

 

Rebecca is an Offie-nominated bookwriter and lyricist based in London. She holds a Master’s degree in Musical Theatre Writing from Goldsmiths University; is a part of the BOOK, Music & Lyrics Advance Group; and a Selladoor New Writers Programme alumnus.

Her most recent work In Clay is a new musical, developed with writing partner Jack Miles. It premiered with a sell-out run at VAULT Festival 2023, where it was nominated for Show of the Week and an Off-Fest Award. ‘Talent’ was also nominated for the Stiles & Drewe Best New Song Prize 2023. After a successful concert at The Other Palace on the main stage in August 2023, it ran from 13 March – 7 April 2024 at Upstairs at the Gatehouse. The run was a critical success, garnering 14 five-star reviews and 7 Off West End Award nominations, including Best New Musical and Best Musical Production.

She is currently developing The Sesh with writer and composer Rob Gathercole (Faking Bad), which will receive its first outing at The Other Palace’s ‘Musical Bites’ series in May 2024.

Alongside her writing career, Rebecca is currently a Principal at True Search, where she supports and advises global businesses within the Gaming, Media and Entertainment sectors in building their leadership teams and boards.
