Caroline Underwood has over twenty years’ music publishing experience at Warner/Chappell Music. As Head of Standard Repertoire and Musicals, she was responsible for exploiting the company’s musical theatre repertoire and American and British Songbook catalogue. During her time there she worked with many of the company’s top clients including the Irving Berlin Estate, the George and Ira Gershwin Estates, the Cole Porter Estate, the Rodgers and Hart Estates, the Noël Coward Estate, Stephen Sondheim, Jerry Herman, Charles Strouse, Steven Sater and many more. She was also responsible for Warner/Chappell’s musical theatre licensing operation and for producing major theatrical events. After leaving Warner/Chappell in 2011, Caroline joined London literary agency Alan Brodie Representation as their Musical Theatre Consultant, where she represented both established and emerging musical theatre writers, with a client base reaching from London to New York. She was Chair of Mercury Musical Developments for fourteen years, is a Trustee of the Noël Coward Foundation, a Trustee of the Lost Musicals Charitable Trust, a Trustee of The Bunnett-Muir Musical Theatre Archive Trust and a non-executive director of Stagescripts Ltd. In 2011, with Warner Brown, she helped create and now co-sponsors new musical theatre writing award The S&S Award. The Award is given bi-annually and developed in association with Leicester Curve, with galas at London’s St James Theatre, now known as The Other Palace.
